Real Insights, From the Front Lines of Healthcare
It All Started with Frustrated Physicians
Our parent company, Think Patients, was founded on the premise that our clients in healthcare and biopharma companies had one important thing in common with their physician customers: a desire to better the health of the patients they served. In our early days, Think Patients employees spent much of their time helping clients better understand the challenges physicians and other healthcare professionals faced when caring for their patients. One common theme continued to surface: EHRs, e-prescribing systems, and other technologies were viewed as a hinderance as often as they were praised for their advancements.
For example, when new pharmaceutical products and medical devices entered the market, prescribers often reported that these new products were difficult to find in their e-prescribing tools, or that they appeared in confusing, unclear ways. Sales representatives from these manufacturer companies were unsure about how to direct their customers to find the desired product, and clinicians found that it was sometimes impossible to tell two similar products apart in their EHR. And without a proactive effort by the manufacturer to find these problems, it could take months before unclear or inaccurate information was discovered and addressed. It was frustrating for everyone, and got in the way of patient care.
To help address this problem, we created a panel of hundreds of physicians, NPs, PAs, and nurses who look into their EHR on a regular basis to tell us whether a new product is actually appearing in their EHR, how it looks, and whether the information they see is easy to understand and use. We still run these “EHR Insights” surveys twice each month for a wide variety of companies, with healthcare professionals telling us that these surveys are still among the easiest and most useful surveys in the industry.
Eventually, we formed Corvus Solutions, a subsidiary of Think Patients, which serves as the consulting arm of our business. The Corvus Solutions team helps companies design products and solutions with the needs of practicing healthcare professionals in mind. So, as healthcare technology advanced, more and more of our clients asked us to help them evaluate the growing number of “in-workflow” solutions pitched to them by marketing agencies and suppliers. We knew we needed a deeper understanding of what healthcare providers really wanted and needed to see in their EHRs, e-prescribing platforms, and other tools, and that led us to form Corvus Insights.
Corvus Insights is our research arm, with a primary goal of ensuring that healthcare professionals have a loud, clear voice in how companies design products and solutions for the healthcare market. Corvus Insights still operates that original research panel (EHR Insights), but has grown to include surveys, focus groups, and in-depth discussions with healthcare professionals into our suite of services.
Our clients are product and service developers, technologists, and marketers who aren’t just focused on making sales, but also on developing and investing in products and tools that actually help their customers. They know that because our research panelists are practicing healthcare professionals with a true stake in the way products and tools are actually used, they can trust the information, opinions, and insights we uncover for them.
If you’re a healthcare professional, we hope you’ll join with many of your colleagues and decide to become part of our research panel, participate in our research projects, or work with us in other ways to help make your voice heard. And if you’re a company that makes products or offers services for healthcare professionals, we just ask that you listen to what these professionals are telling you. We can help with that. And we’re honored to do it.
